Associate Professor Len Sparrow is currently Deputy Head of School in the School of Education at Curtin University in Perth Western Australia. He teaches units in primary mathematics education. He has a broad range of research interests. Recently, he has worked on projects relating to sensible use of calculators, strategies for mental mathematics, the use of materials in mathematics classrooms, teacher professional development, beginning teachers of mathematics, and everyday mathematics. At present he is interested in investigating teachers’ and children’s attitudes, anxiety, and engagement with mathematics learning. Len has a wide range of experience in working with schools, teachers, and children. He has supported teachers in action (or professional) learning projects and can help with most areas of primary mathematics teaching. Back
