Birth to eight years of age is an important stage in the development of people’s learning and lives. Equally important is providing access for all young children to key mathematical ideas and rich learning in their early years. Learning should nurture success and positive dispositions.

This site is designed primarily as a professional community for educators but also welcomes parents and other caregivers. The community program aims to invigorate the teaching and learning of mathematics.

  • Understand the importance of mathematics in developing young children’s life success
  • Develop the skills and increase the confidence of educators in providing the best environments for children to learn
  • Increase understanding of the Early Years Learning Framework
  • Build knowledge and understanding of the Australian Curriculum: Mathematics

The Early Years Learning in Mathematics community is founded upon the recommendations from the joint position paper developed by the Australian Association of Mathematics Teachers and Early Childhood Australia.
