| Associate Professor Peter Howard works within the Institute for advancing Community Engagement at Australian Catholic University. He has vast experience in mathematics education having been a teacher, school executive, educational consultant and respected academic. His scholarship and research background is in Aboriginal education, building community capacity and socio-cultural learning of mathematics. Peter has a realistic view of the world of teachers, pedagogy and curriculum. He continues to be an innovator in educational programs for schools, teacher education and community access to education. He have a strong social justice and equity view of the rights of people and communities to education. I can assist schools in developing an enhanced professionalism in teaching and learning and engaging with community to bring about shared and sustainable curriculum change. I had a significant role in the Mathematics in Indigenous Contexts Project of the NSW Board of Studies and have written and presented nationally and internationally on teaching and learning issues related to Aboriginal education and mathematics education.
