Would you like to teach in a more dynamic way, drawing on real-world situations? Would you like to know more about the interconnection of Science, Technology and Mathematics?
Maths Inside is a project by AAMT and UTS (University of Technology Sydney), who are developing modules for classroom use. Currently, four modules have been developed that have been designed to be engaging, open-ended and investigative. The modules are linked to the ACF for Years 7 - 12. These units would not only fit into the Mathematics curriculum but would also be perfect for Science and STEM. Each module is based on a short video featuring scientists involved in cutting-edge research. The scientists explain the mathematics that they need to use every day.
Two half-day face-to-face sessions will be run based on the following modules:
· "Bees with Backpacks" - Links to Year 7-9 ACF and Maths General 3 (9.00am till 11.30am).
· "Maths in 3D" - Links to Year 8-9 ACF and Maths Methods 3 (12.30pm till 3.00pm).
Choose one session of interest, or opt into both at a discounted price.
Morning (or afternoon) tea will be provided but, to keep costs to a minimum, it will be BYO lunch if you choose to stay on for the afternoon session. There are many food outlets within walking distance of the venue.
Cost: $50 per session or $90 for both sessions
