Maths by Inquiry

Mathematics by Inquiry is a partnership between AAMT and the Australian Academy of Science (AAS) from November 2015 to June 2018. .

Mathematics by Inquiry is a bold new Australian government-funded program to promote new approaches to mathematics teaching in Australian schools. It is part of the Australian Government’s Industry Innovation and Competitiveness Agenda supporting Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education in schools. The Australian Academy of Science AAS) and the Australian Association of Mathematics Teachers (AAMT) are partners in the project, with the Academy being largely responsible for the development of materials and overall management of the project, and the AAMT responsible for communication and dissemination.

The Executive Director of the project is Dr Steve Thornton, well-known to many in the AAMT community – he is a Life Member and former President.

In November 2015 the project released some intial information in a Fact Sheet.
